ADHD testing for clearer answers and next steps
Many patients wonder whether ADHD is truly the issue — or only part of the picture. Our ADHD testing service includes the use of an objective, FDA-cleared testing tool that helps bring more clarity to the evaluation process, so next steps feel more informed and less like guesswork.
What this service includes
Our ADHD testing service includes the testing appointment, the use of an objective, FDA-cleared testing tool, and a results review session with a clinician.
Who this is for
This service may be appropriate for children ages 7 and older, adolescents, and adults who need diagnostic clarification for attention, focus, organization, or executive-function concerns.
Important to know before you begin
All new patients start with a psychiatric evaluation. That required first appointment helps determine whether ADHD testing is appropriate and what the right next step should be.
What happens at the results review
During the results review, we go over the findings, answer questions, and discuss next steps. That conversation may include medication options that could be appropriate for the initial treatment of ADHD. If clinically appropriate, a 30-day prescription may be provided.
Virtual or in-person testing
Testing may be completed virtually or in person, depending on clinical needs and whether the patient can complete the testing requirements from home.
Commonly asked questions
How long does ADHD testing take?
We tell patients to block between 30 to 40 minutes for the ADHD test. This allows roughly five minutes to log in and review the test instructions, five minutes to take the practice test provided by the software, and 20 minutes to take the test.
How long does it take to get my test results?
We will have your results within minutes of completing the test. Our scheduling coordinator will schedule you for the results review where your provider will review your test results with you and discuss next steps. You will be provided with a copy of your test results before the appointment so you can have them in front of you during the appointment.
Do I need a psychiatric evaluation before ADHD testing?
If you are not already a current patient of Chesapeake Bay Psychiatry, you will need to complete a psychiatric evaluation prior to ADHD testing to determine clinical necessity.
