Medication management should feel collaborative, not rushed. We help children ages 7 and older and adults understand what is working, what is not, and what may need to change so care feels purposeful rather than reactive.

What medication management includes

Medication management includes careful follow-up, prescribing when appropriate, monitoring symptom changes and side effects, and adjusting treatment based on how you respond over time.

Common concerns we help manage

We commonly help patients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, sleep concerns, and other mood or attention-related symptoms.

How visits work

Medication management begins after the required new patient psychiatric evaluation. Follow-up appointments are typically 30 or 60 minutes, depending on clinical needs.

Care format

Telehealth is available for patients who are physically located in Virginia at the time of the visit. Limited in-person appointments may be available in Chesapeake based on provider availability.

Commonly asked questions

  • How often will I need follow-up appointments?

Follow-up timing depends on your individual needs. If you and your provider change a medication or dosage, you will typically need a follow-up appointment within 30 days so your provider can check in and document how it is working.

  • Do I need a psychiatric evaluation first?

Yes, all new patients must complete a psychiatric evaluation when becoming a patient of Chesapeake Bay Psychiatry.

  • Can I get refills without an appointment?

Controlled medications are not prescribed without an appointment. Other refill needs are handled according to clinical judgment and practice policies.
